The Greenham Music Project was aimed at those young people with a desire to become involved in music making but who had little or no access to musical instruments and tuition.
The project began by running taster sessions: from digital music technology to rock band style music. The taster sessions aimed to support the development of all the different types of music making that young people engage in. The music leaders devised bespoke workshop plans appropriate to the needs and aspirations of the young people that attended the taster sessions, combining technical skills alongside developing their music making and enjoyment of music.
Key to the project was the development of our adult volunteers from the local community. Two of our adult volunteers will work closely with the experienced tutors in all aspects of music making so that once the project has finished trainee’s can still deliver music making sessions within our youth clubs. Trainees and young people will be trained over an 18 month duration
