Greenham Youth Council was established in April 2010. 11 young people went to The Watermill Theatre to receive Assertiveness Training and then spent 5 days at Avon Tyrrell to establish the group. They learnt many new skills and how to work as a team and how to overcome personal fears, which boosted their self confidence.
Greenham Youth Council is open to any young people aged 13 and over who want to make a difference in their community. Two representatives from the Youth Council sit on the Youth Project’s Management Group.
Youth Council members plan, assist and deliver activities at the junior youth club.
They gain valuable training and experience by assist in the running of the internet cafe tuck shop. Each summer the Youth Council assists in choosing activities and trips for the Summer School Holidays.
Our Youth Council meetings always include a chance for young people have their say about what concerns them, what they want to change and what they want to achieve as a group.
