Motorwise is our intensive Road Safety Course, that aims to promote responsible attitudes towards ownership and use of motor vehicles.
The course combined hands-on driving each night with hard hitting workshops:
Road Accident Demonstration: Hampshire Fire and Rescue Officers re-created the scene of an accident and gave young people the chance to experience what it’s like to be cut out of a car in the event of an accident. (see photos below). Senior Officers also gave first hand accounts of attending serious car accidents and showed shocking photographs of real accident scenes.
Road Safety Presentation: Hampshire Police Road Safety Officer gave a visual power point presentation on road safety issues.
Local issues discussion: Local Police Beat Officer, PCSO, and Community Warden led a discussion on local issues about irresponsible car/bike use at Bishops Green.
Theory Test: Mock Theory and Hazard Perception Test
Youth Worker led sessions: using material from the Brake Road Safety Charity.
Car Maintenance: Hands-on, practical workshop, with a mechanic.
First on the scene of an accident: Advice on what to do if you’re the first on the scene of road accident including basic first aid training.
