Community Youth Project (formerly Bishops Green Youth Project) was established as a Charitable Trust in 2002 by residents and workers who were concerned about the lack of provision for young people.
Our Management Group is dominated by local residents, but also includes members of the wider community who bring relevant skills and experience to the group.
What Makes us different?
Our Community Youth Workers are based in the Community.
We employ full time Community Youth Workers, based in the local community, available to young people, parents and the whole community for advice, support and information.
We work with the whole Community.
Our Community Youth Workers become active members of the local community. We work with all ages to bring improvements to the community.
We are managed by members of the Community.
Our management group is dominated by residents of the local communities where we work, but also includes members of the wider community who bring specialist skills and experience to the group.
We rely on the support of volunteers from the Community.
Every project and initiative that we run relies on the support of our team of local volunteers.
We can make decisions quickly.
Our staff are empowered to make decisions without unnecessary delay.
We empower young people.
We establish, train, and support a Youth Council that has real powers to set our priorities and change the way that we do things.
We reward good behaviour, not bad.
Trips and residential training courses are used as a reward for good behaviour, not bad.
